Marissa, I think that bullying has become a huge problem recently; more specifically, cyber bullying. It is one thing if a teacher sees a student being bullied in the classroom or on school grounds, but it is difficult to monitor bullying outside of school. I know a lot of districts have been making efforts to solve the issue of off-campus and online bullying by imposing no tolerance rules. However, I think it is left up to the victims of cyber bullying to have to come forward and report it. If these victims don't come forward, the bullying could go unnoticed and possibly lead to school violence or suicide. I feel like many students would be afraid to come forward and "tell" on their classmates. I think it would be a good idea to raise more awareness in schools about the consequences of cyber bullying and what students can do if it happens to them.
Marissa, I feel the same way. Teachers need to be just as educated about school bullying as students do. Not all teachers may be aware or refuse to recognize the problem but the issue of suicide and bullying is on the rise. I think that The Bully Suicide Project is a great resource for teachers and students alike.
